New Craft Toy to Play with–the Cricut Explore Air 2

Kids never outgrow their toys. They just get more expensive toys and start to count birthdays in decades.

I started playing with my #flamingopearl #cricutexploreair2 that arrived yesterday, since I took advantage of the upgrade from Cricut. Big learning curve ahead, but if I can stick with this, it might make some things faster. I never did create those Christmas card files I purchased (with a gift card). Time to try!

In the midst of it all…

I got in a bunch of retired crafty things last week after Stampin’ Up’s new catalog came out. So this week I’ve been trying to organize something to make my craft room look better. Got in a ton of paper, so I’ve had to shift my paper shelves, which led to rearranging four boxes in the bookshelf and putting other designer paper in the cubbyhole hutch paper spot…which means I have to rearrange furniture to move the other part of the hutch in here and put the antique buffet into the guest room, which holds fabric in half of it (that I can’t currently sew because my machine needs to be looked at)…. Sigh. Everything depends on one thing, some thing, being finished first, before everything will be done. I’ll get there.

In the midst of tonight’s organizational endeavors, I found this. Which does not belong there. Which I did not put there. She likes being in the midst of things too. 🤦‍♀️

I’m choosing to take it as a sign that she loves being with me up here (seriously, she’s near me or on me ALL the time)…but I secretly think it’s just because her nine lives of curiosity simply can’t stand not finding new adventure. She also loves to find the best hidey-holes. Takes after her owner, she does.

So I guess I’ll go back to the labeling of my UK dies and papers before I file away the matching magazines that are supposed to be in that spot. There’s always another day and another corner to clean.

My, isn’t she comfy.

Embossed Red Roses on White with Rose Wonder Stamp Set

Sometimes simple equals beautiful.

I have a lady who periodically orders cards from me and enjoys seeing whatever creativity comes through, rather than give me specifics on how she wants the cards done. Her style–clean and simple–is sometimes a challenge for me, as I naturally tend to complicate life, but sometimes it’s also really refreshing to not have to overthink every little thing. Sometimes it’s just so nice to find a few simple bits and put them together quickly in a pleasing arrangement–leading me to wonder why I don’t do that kind more often. 🙂 This “embossed red roses” card was one of those for her.
A crafty acquaintance gave me this embossed panel, so I don’t know the designer, but the sentiment, ink color, and baker’s twine are from Stampin’ Up (Rose Wonder stamp set, Real Red ink, and Candy Cane Lane Metallic Baker’s Twine, respectively). I also used Stampin’ Up’s retired Candy Dots Brads and a Thick Whisper White card base. This is one card where I feel like simple still equals beautiful in my book. I later decided to add a little red rose in one of the corners on the inside.

A Simple Hello Card Using the Sweet Soiree Memories and More Card Pack

I grabbed a 4×6 printed piece from my Sweet Soiree Memories and More Card Pack from Stampin’ Up and adhered it to an Old Olive card base for this clean-and-simple hello card for Stacy. The peach ribbon is from Recollections but matched perfectly, and I also colored in the “Hello” and the centers of the flowers with a Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen. Quick and easy card.

Hello Recycling (of Cards)

Recycled card bits made new.

Sometimes things are just too pretty or useful to throw away. (Yes, I have a Depression-era mind-set.) Here I used part of a printed card that had made its way to me into a little hello card, complete with a new tag, wood and resin pieces, two types of patterned paper (one being embossed and glittered), Stampin’ Up Lucky Limeade ribbon, and translucent, glow-in-the-dark Nuvo Drops.

Playing around with a new app called Colorfy and thought I made something pretty. :)

An Update on My Scarlett-Stitch

Every now and then I’m able to travel and take my Gone with the Wind cross-stitch with me. Here’s an updated picture of my progress.

View on Instagram https://ift.tt/2H7BY1k
Working on my Scarlett-stitch tonight, which I usually only do when I travel. Added some definition to her skirt edges on the right, filled in some holes, extended the ruffles, and figured out where I goofed last year, so I’m pleased with my progress. Most complicated pattern I’ve ever worked; she takes awhile to wrangle. I’m almost ready to flip the pattern over! (It’s about time.) I mean, Yay!
